Well, this is the last week of normalcy for the folks doing the Opens, and EVERY BODY should be doing the Opens!! Even if you do not feel “ready” yet, do it! You will regret not giving it a shot. Of the many we’ve had to convince to participate over the years, they all say it was one of the BEST things they’ve been a part of with CrossFit. This year, as you know, there is an addition of a scaled division in addition to the Masters and Rx divisions. So, what is your excuse to not see what you are made of in a “home field advantage” in house competition. It’s just a workout, there is nothing to be anxious or intimidated about.
So, sign up for the Opens, I would also STRONGLY advise to take the online judges course (to not only help you understand movements, but will also shed some light and clarity as to why it is important to hit the standards and why us coaches are on your range of motion so much!!).
So, for the flow of the Opens… I will announce once I hear what the workout is how that particular day will flow. As far as heat times, ideal warm up approaches, strategic mindsets, and overall tips! I will open the doors no later than 0700 and will probably have first heat times going off around 0800… Of course, special circumstances exist and if that timing doesn’t work, notify me and I’ll make something work to accommodate your scheduling needs.
If you are intending on doing the Opens workout on different days, YOU MUST NOT INTERFERE WITH CLASSES, I do not care who you are… We have had many issues in the past. It is disrespectful to the patrons in class, to the coaches, and to the establishment. Do your absolute best to show up on Saturday’s, the environment will be very conducive for great performance!
