Testing Brings New Numbers and New LIFE!

Congratulations to Shawn and Tesha Wolf!  They just had baby Reese Ashley weighing in at just 6.3 pounds!  A very healthy baby girl, which means…  We’ll actually get to see the Wolf Pack again soon!

The “Test” week is ALL done!!!  Every single person improved on more than one movement or metabolic WOD, excellent work!  What does this mean?  Well, your hard work and putting up with me is paying off!  What the testing process is really testing is the bodies ability to explode through movements and recover for the next event.  We only train one hour classes, so many of you had the idea that two hours would be just miserable, however, you work so hard and do so much volume, that in the midst of it all, the amount of time for one testing session went unnoticed!  We measured strength through the core and full body with the slow and heavy TGU, acceleration and speed with flexibilty through the snatch, tremendous power through C & J, then moved to the fun stuff.  A quick ATP WOD capping it at five minutes, a relatively quick one to recover from and prepare for the next WOD be a lactic acid producer, checking the your threshold and ultimate recovery rates for the seemingly neverending row!  Nice work by all!  Next test session will be in 12 weeks, I will not call it testing, I still am disappointed with the overall turnout.  Those of you that came in, congrats!  When it was all said and done, it truly wasn’t all that bad, yet you either got numbers to compare to to monitor progress, or set a benchmark for next time.  Great work!  Those of you that took full advantage of the “Open Gym”, you rock!  We will be trying to do that more often, so when we do, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!!!!!  It is a great opportunity to work on your lifts or other skills that you may not hit during a class (because not everyone is coming in to take 5-6 classes a week, because you’re smart and realize you need to rest).  It is also another great time to train with others you don’t typically get to work out with.  It’s great to train with people that push you through either encouragement, or by simply having a “rabbit” to chase by them out performing you.  It all works out to create a more functional, more fit you!

Now, Testing results…  This truly is NOT a competition.  This is just a weigh to measure your performance in as much of a controlled environment as possible.  We replicated exactly what we did 12 weeks ago to see if you are gaining results.  No surprise by anyone, if you work, YOU WILL IMPROVE!!!  Nice work guys.  Now, it doesn’t matter if someone is better than you, life experience has a funny way of shaping your output in the current state.  People come from all kinds of backgrounds.  You should really only be focused on your numbers and simply look at others’ to congratulate or motivate.  Many variables effect how you perform on a day-to-day basis and we merely took a snapshot of your performance.  Some were frustrated, especially with the lifts.  Get over it!  I appreciate the heart and desire to move heavy s#!&, but realize that diet, sleep, work, stress, relationships, school, etc… all have an effect on your performance.  It was simply a test to see where you are at that exact moment!  This stuff is very mental.  Lifting, the WOD’s (the weights as a whole were light enough for you to actually be able to continue to move despite extreme exhaustion, so really it became a battle of will…), and row were ALL related to your mental state.

If you aren’t satisfied with your numbers, legitimately ask yourself, “did I push myself to where I absolutely could not have pushed any further?”  If you answer yes, well I call BS.  There isn’t a single athlete in the world that can say that.  There will always be off days or moments, accept that!  Realize it will happen.  When you’re in class, workout next to the one that is giving EVERYTHING they have, it will be contagious!  Or, better yet, BE THE EXAMPLE that people are surrounding themselves by!  Let’s help shape RCF and the surrounding cities to be the fittest, most positive and supportive people around!  Let’s enhance the community!!

Now, scores… The small number to the right of the event indicates the placement received from that event.  Also, as most of you know, I made the mistake of runninng Ursula at a cap of 5 min, instead of 6 min from the last time.  Nice work all!  Let’s have a killer Fall 2011 Cycle!
